Winner of MER UK Award 2019 announced: Neptune Energy – BP – Japex UK E&P Ltd
As part of the 2019 Oil & Gas UK Awards, the annual MER UK Award was presented to the winner on 7 November 2019 at a ceremony held at P&J Live, Aberdeen.
The OGA is proud to sponsor the MER UK Award which recognises innovative and sustainable ways to maximise economic recovery from the UK Continental Shelf.
Three high quality entries were selected as finalists with the winner being:
Neptune Energy – BP – Japex UK E&P Ltd: Collaboration was key for Neptune Energy, BP and Japex to unlock the Seagull development. This approach allowed them to secure FDP approval against licence expiry and asset decommissioning. Aided by FPS and CATS, and by working effectively together, barriers were broken. This included: the reuse of Heron assets; the first tieback to ETAP in 17 years; the first true third-party GAEL user and future use of new infrastructure by the next entrant.
