Brief overview of role

The OGA seeks a GIS Analyst to drive the continuous improvements in GIS technology and services across OGA, while maintaining the on-going operational requirements of the organisation.

The GIS Analyst will be responsible for supporting the Senior Geospatial Manager in the delivery of the OGA’s spatial strategy. This sets out a vision for the OGA’s spatial capability and how that will support the OGA’s IT/IM Strategy and the wider remit of Maximising Economic Recovery.

The role is part of the multi-discipled digital services team reporting to the OGA’s Senior Geospatial Manager.

Detailed job description and key responsibilities

Key responsibilities include:

  • Support the development and continuous improvement of OGA’s GIS services
  • Provide GIS support to internal and external stakeholders
  • Produce high quality cartographic maps on request for internal OGA users to support legal documents and decision making
  • Maintain a set of public PDF maps and downloads
  • Support development of OGA’s web based GIS
  • Support the Senior Geospatial Manager in delivering priorities

Priorities and key challenges

The immediate priorities for the GIS Analyst are as follows:

  • Work with key areas of OGA to build ability and raise awareness and capabilities of GIS.
  • Support the growing number of users with map and data requests.
  • Provide deskside support as required.
  • Support the Senior Geospatial Manager with administrative tasks.

Specialist Skills, Qualifications, Experience, Licenses, Memberships or Language

Essential Desirable
• BSc in GIS or suitable experience
• Knowledge of the ESRI Platform at 10.5+ (ArcGIS, ArcPro, Portal, Server, AGOL, ArcGIS Hub/OpenData)
• Working knowledge of Oracle/SQL Databases and ArcSDE
• Working knowledge of GIS Data Management
• Strong geodetic knowledge
• Excellent skills on the MS Suite (Excel, Access, PowerPoint, etc)
• Working knowledge of Safe FME
• Programing experience (Python, JavaScript, HTML, CSS, Markdown, etc)
• Cloud environments (MS Azure)
• Knowledge of Oil and gas industry data
